Easy Run

We had a good, short, run on Tuesday. I had run them hard over the weekend and wanted them to just have some fun on this run.

This picture makes us look fast!

Still going fast!

Cool Front

Yes! Indian summer is done! We ran both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Saturday was a great run and I was impressed with Tank's focus in lead. Those who know Tank would be very impressed with that statement. He ran us by dogs and deer and listened to my commands!

On the return home it became slightly foggy. It was so peaceful and beautiful.

Sunday was a different story. Okie started in lead but was having trouble not turning the team at our 5 mile turnaround, I wanted to go farther. So I put Tank her place. He didn't do nearly as well as he did on Saturday but it was still better than Okie.

We all need these kind of days to make us work at it harder.

Up the hill are three whitetail rearends. We had a race with those large bucks, they won.

Home sweet home!

Wednesday's Kennel Visitor

When I got home from work Wednesday evening it was cool enough to run the ByDog team!  So of course I jumped at the opportunity.  As I was getting the team ready, we noticed a man down the drive watching us.  Cobey waved him up the drive and he came to meet the team.  Cobey talked to him while he watch as I hooked up the dogs and took off.  We love educating people on the breed, the Siberian Husky, and the sport (mushers LOVE talking about their dogs).

The run was great.  The team pulled the ATV 2 miles in 4th gear.  We've been working on strength building here in the early season.   Go team go!

Then Saturday morning it was another cool morning (not for long though, so we got going quickly).

Tensaw (back right) with his offspring (Buzz, Jig, Buck (back) and Whip). Awww so cute!

Headed out on the canal road.

The team returning from our 5 mile run. Beautiful Bitterroot Saturday.

My leaders: Flier...

...and Okie.
They did amazing today!  There were a number of dog distractions. And they pulled the team on by.  The puppies were not happy about that decision but they are learning from the experienced dogs what we do in these situations. Flier is learning his gee/haw/straight ahead commands nicely. Okie really wanted to turn haw in a spot we had Wednesday but Flier heard me say "straight ahead" and pulled the team straight.  This is a big accomplishment for him.  Okie may be a little dog but she is commanding and what she wants (which is what the musher wants 99% of the time) she gets the team to do. He's stepping up to the task of leader!  Good boy!  But he's learning from the best!  Good girl!

Good puppas!

Back on the ATV

After a few week of warmer weather it has begun to cool off again and we here at ByDog Siberians were quick to take advantage of it!

Tank and Okie in lead, Isis an Tensaw swing, Flier and Buck team, Paluk (by herself) team, Whip and Jig wheel.

I had the team pull the ATV without the throttle for 1.5 miles in 4th gear. We averaged 9 mph. Usually we use the throttle. This season I've decided we're big enough to run without it. Right now is the time to be strength training, build that muscle puppas!

Beautiful on the run!

We are fortunate to live and train in such a beautiful place. The trade off winter is not as snowy or as cold as a musher woul prefer.
Headed home.

Good puppas! Tank (and Flier) love to stand in the water bucket to cool off when we get back.

"This is my water bowl and I love it!!!"

"I like water too!"

"We are super cute and we know it!"

Paluk is always good for some love before or after a run. It involves less body slams after a run though (she has lots of energy, even at 11 years old).
